ANDERSON — South Madison County residents are invited to audition for Ovid Community Church’s 12th annual dramatic Christmas musical, featuring a full cast and choir, which will present “A Time For Christmas.” This Broadway-style musical is an imaginative adventure through 2,000 Christmases of hope and changed lives, promoters said in a press release.

Madison County students, business professionals, local dramatists, musicians and many individuals and families will be required for this production. Also, interviews will be held for technical crew positions, choreographers, costumer, props, stage design/painter/decor, lighting, and musical directors. Open auditions are taking place through Oct. 5. Call Ovid Community Church at (765) 642-0551 ext. 200, to schedule an audition on Sunday from noon to 1:30 p.m. or Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. Auditions require: Minimum 60 seconds of seasonal or familiar song (not memorized); 60-90 second script “cold” reading/sampling from “A Time for Christmas.” Upon arrival, drama sample readings will be available. Casting assignments will be announced Wednesday, Oct. 8, with a full read-through on Monday, Oct. 13.

Musical rehearsals at the church will be held each Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11 for the “orphans” (children’s choir — grades one through six); and 4:15 p.m. each Sunday for “townspeople” (adult choir — seventh grade up). Audition interviews are not required for the choirs. Demonstration CD recordings will be made available for all participants.

The musical will be presented Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to performances. With near capacity crowds, seating is limited. Free tickets are required and may be obtained after Saturday, Nov. 1, by calling the church office.
