ANDERSON — A Markleville man surrendered at the Madison County Jail on Monday on multiple charges in connection with an April altercation in which two people were hurt.
Buck L. Gleason, 35, 6416 S. 100E, Markleville, turned himself in on a warrant charging him with two Class C felony counts of battery by means of a deadly weapon, and single misdemeanor charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and failure to stop after a personal injury accident.
Anderson police Sgt. William Casey said a probable cause affidavit alleges that Gleason went to the home of Mark Goodman in the 3600 block of Main Street on April 8.
Once there, Casey said, Gleason is accused of grabbing the person who met him at the door by the arm and pushing that person away. Casey said Gleason is accused of then using brass knuckles with an attached knife that caused an injury to Goodman.
The affidavit says that during the altercation, Goodman’s father, Donald Goodman, arrived on the scene.
Inside the house, Goodman and another person chased off Gleason with a cast-iron skillet and a ball-peen hammer, Casey said.
As Gleason got into his vehicle to flee, the right outside mirror of his vehicle struck Donald Goodman and knocked him to the ground. He and Mark Goodman sustained minor injuries; Donald Goodman was treated at Saint John’s Medical Center.
Casey said all three people later picked Gleason out of a lineup. Gleason was booked at the jail Monday and released on $10,000 bond.
Casey said there was no indication Monday of what led to the altercation.
