ANDERSON — A shooting suspect went to the Anderson police station Monday because he had heard detectives were looking for him.

Marquis A. Foard, 22, Anderson, was arrested at the police station at about 3 p.m. on a charge of attempted murder, a Class B felony. He was held without bond.

Investigators Monday were working on getting a warrant to search his home, Anderson Police Detective Joel Sandefur said.

The arrest was made in connection to a shooting at Club 765 around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Several witness statements led investigators to believe that Foard was the man who shot two or three times at Stevaughn Fuller, a 20-year-old Anderson resident, Sandefur said. One bullet punctured the side of Fuller’s head, and a stray bullet struck 24-year-old Andrea Mitchell in the abdomen.

Fuller and Mitchell, a Muncie resident, remained listed in serious condition at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis Monday evening, Sandefur said.

Fuller was on the crowded dance floor when the incident happened. He had an argument with a man that escalated into a physical fight. Then the man pulled a handgun from his waistband and opened fire at Fuller, Sandefur said.

The assailant’s friends pulled him back, and bar patrons ducked for cover, Sandefur said. The shooter ran through the bar’s front door following the incident, according to police.

Fuller’s sister called 911. She had been at the bar along with their mother.

Fuller was conscious and responsive when Anderson police arrived at the scene. He suffered a hematoma, internal bleeding and swelling; the bullet did not penetrate his skull, Sandefur said.

On Monday, police were still investigating the cause of the fight, but they believe it was over something trivial, Sandefur said.

Investigators could not say for sure whether Fuller and the shooter knew each other.
