11:36 p.m.: Power restored to most Duke Energy customers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Thunderstorms that swept through Indiana early Sunday morning cut off power to nearly 38,000 Duke Energy customers.

Power had been restored to all but about 2,500 customers by 10:30 p.m., according to information posted on the utility’s Web site.

The counties with the most outages included Vigo, with nearly 8,000, Clay, Tippecanoe, Henry and Gibson.

Wind damage was reported in several counties, with trees and power lines down in numerous areas.

The National Weather Service says damage that initially was reported as a possible tornado in Henry County was believed to have been caused by straight-line winds.
