Summer courses start Monday at CTA

— Two eight-week classes will be offered this summer at the Purdue University College of Technology at Anderson.
The summer semester begins Monday and ends July 3. Each class will be held at the Anderson University Flagship Center, which is located off Interstate 69, Exit 22.
Math 111 - Algebra will be offered 5:15-7:45 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The class is an algebra review course to prepare students for Math 152 - College Algebra or Math 153 - Algebra and Trigonometry. Topics to be covered include real numbers, linear functions, solving linear equations and systems of linear equations, absolute value equations and inequalities, rational expressions, complex numbers, proportions, and solving quadratic equations.
Communication 114 - Fundamentals of Speech Communication will meet 5:15-7:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The course will cover topics such as how communication theories apply to speech, interpersonal communication and small-group process, and persuasive speaking in standard speaker-audience situations.
Jody Pierce, assistant location director, said that the courses are geared toward both those students currently enrolled at the Anderson location as well as those enrolled at Purdue’s main campus who will be going home to the Anderson area for the summer.
“In addition, students from other universities who are in the Anderson area for the summer can take these courses and transfer them to their home campus,” she said in the press release. “This is a great chance for students to spend the summer earning credits toward their degree. We are pleased we are able to offer this opportunity to Anderson and the surrounding community.”
Pierce said that high school juniors and seniors also are eligible to take these courses and can earn college credit.

The Anderson site offers bachelor’s degrees in both industrial technology and organizational leadership and supervision, and associate’s degrees in computer and information technology, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, and organizational leadership and supervision.
