Cost of Oil

• Invest $150 billion in clean energy, including establishing a $50 billion strategic energy fund to demand that oil companies invest in clean energy

• Increase vehicle fuel economy standards to 55 miles per gallon

• Put 2,000 “plug-in” hybrid school buses on the road

• Accelerate the production of “plug-In” hybrid electric cars; invest $2 billion in research and development to reduce the cost and increase the longevity and durability of batteries; offer consumers tax credits of up to $10,000 for purchasing a plug-in hybrid; and add 100,000 PHEVs to the federal fleet by 2015.

• Increase production of biofuels to 60 billion gallons by 2030

Education

• Make pre-kindergarten universal by providing high quality pre-kindergarten for all four-year-olds through a federal-state partnership. Her proposal pays particular attention to children from limited-English and/or low income households

• Cutting the Latino drop-out rate in half

• Put college within reach for more Hispanic families
