Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton
Born Oct. 26, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Hugh and Dorothy Rodham. She has two younger brothers, Hugh and Tony.
Graduated from Wellesley College in 1969, then enrolled in Yale Law School, where she met fellow law student Bill Clinton.
Married Bill Clinton in 1975, and the couple’s daughter, Chelsea, was born in 1980.
In 1978, Bill Clinton became the governor of Arkansas, which began Hillary’s 12-year stint as the state’s first lady.
Served as the nation’s first lady from 1992 to 2000.
Elected United States senator from New York on Nov. 7, 2000, first first lady elected to the United States Senate and the first woman elected statewide in New York.
