4 p.m.: Middletown woman hits $2 Million Jackpot

INDIANAPOLIS – Denise Benbow of Middletown is the first jackpot winner in a new Scratch-off game from the Hoosier Lottery, according to a press release from Hoosier Lottery.

Benbow and her father, Jerry, claimed $2 million at Hoosier Lottery headquarters today after playing the new $30 Scratch-off game, $2 Million Jackpot.

“I didn’t tell my dad how much I won.  He just knew I won at least $1,000,” said Benbow.  “When I walked in the Lottery office I said ‘I won $2 million!'"

The first ticket Benbow purchased was a $50 winning ticket; she used the prize money to purchase her jackpot-winning ticket.

When asked if she had any special plans for her winnings, Benbow said, “I’m going to pay off bills, work for a couple more years and then retire."

Benbow purchased her winning ticket at Meijer #136 at 6610 Scatterfield Rd. in Anderson.

"As soon as I realized what I had won, I signed the back, stuffed it back in my purse and went straight home."
