INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A Senate committee has endorsed a bill that would allow bars and taverns to offer pull tabs and other low-stakes gambling.

The Senate Appropriations Committee voted 8-3 for the bill and sent it to the full Senate. A version of the bill already has passed the House.

Charitable fraternal organizations or clubs have long offered pull tabs under a bingo license, and the General Assembly created a specific license for them last year.

They are paper games that pay off when symbols underneath pull up tab windows on the back sides of cards match winning combinations shown on the front sides.
