Anderson woman married 23 times

ANDERSON — An Alexandria native born Linda Lou Taylor has received notoriety again for her 12-year-old record for 23 marriages.

On Saturday, the Indianapolis Star published a piece about the woman, now known as Linda Wolfe, of Anderson. She last wed in 1996 and has earned a Guinness world record as the most-married woman in history.

She remembers her first husband, George Scott, whom she married in 1957, as the nicest. She was just 16 and he 31. She married Jack Gourley three times and was wed to Fred Chadwick for just 36 hours.

Taylor’s nuptials have led to appearances on the talk shows of Geraldo Rivera, Phil Donahue, Joan Rivers and Maury Povich.
