The Herald Bulletin’s latest new staff writer plans to work closely with community members to report on news that is interesting and relevant to their lives.
Jason White, 26, started work Wednesday as the newspaper’s south-county beat reporter. He is responsible for covering the Pendleton, Ingalls, Markleville, Lapel, Frankton, Fortville and Middletown areas.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the people of Madison County and telling their stories,” White said. “I strongly believe in a newspaper’s responsibility to serve the public.”
White is a 1999 graduate of Crown Point High School.
He attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute from 1999 to 2003 and worked for the campus newspaper, the Indiana Statesman, throughout his collegiate career.
He spent more than two years working at the Daily Journal of Johnson County, where he covered the cities of Franklin and Greenwood, as well as several school districts.
“Jason is a talented journalist who understands the role of community newspapers,” said Scott Underwood, managing editor of The Herald Bulletin. “He’ll dig into the issues that are important to the south-county area.”
Recently, White worked at the Noblesville Daily Times and covered the town of Westfield during its transition into a city.
White encourages community members to contact him with any feedback or story ideas at (765) 640-4805 or jason.white@heraldbulletin.com.
