Howard County offials are struggling to come up with an answer as to why an Emergency Management vehicle was parked outside an adult novelty store in Muncie.

The Kokomo Tribune reported Tuesday that Howard County EMA vehicle No. 12 was photographed Saturday outside the After Dark adult novelty store in Muncie. Photographs clearly show the EMA logo and car number.

EMA director Larry Smith said the vehicle was never authorized to leave Howard County and that the offending officer, if and when identified, will be dismissed.

“It was taken out of the county without authorization by me or the staff officer,” he said. “I’m notified if any of our equipment is taken out of the county.
