I really disagree with your editorial on Oct. 31 concerning the county option income tax. I think you are naming names and placing blame on the wrong individuals. The main person to blame on this situation would be your “financial-savvy” governor, Mr. Mitch Daniels.

His apparent motives in deceiving everyone into thinking Indiana is the best, most wonderful, secure state in the Midwest makes him a tyrant to the citizens here in the real world. He obviously doesn’t care about people in this state who live in despair and depression under these policies.

Most of his concern lies with his cronies in Marion County where he can get all of his sought-after accolades.(higher office?) After all, he was known as the “slasher” in the Bush administration and the name certainly still fits.

His aggressive agenda has crushed our local county governments. We are between a “rock and a hard place” as far as property tax caps, education, public services, and welfare mismanagement issues.

I commend the councils for their hard work and brave choices. I’ve been there and it’s tough to make them, but it had to be done with the least amount of harm to all. But it’s not over yet, as Daniels wants to make these property caps permanent next year. I believe until Indiana can bring back real good-paying jobs that can support a family, and realize that everybody is not into high-technology, we will continue to be in this predicament. Therefore everybody has to sacrifice for the good of all. But let’s not blame our fellow elected officials for a situation perpetuated by Mitch Daniels, our governor, and even reaching back to the last eight years of Bush and company.
