Letter: Congress gets raise, but not the seniors

Everyone is worried about the health care issues, they have forgotten that all those government officials (members of Congress) are receiving a 5 percent pay raise the first of the year. Social Security people don’t get one due to the economy not growing and we don’t need a cost-of-living raise.

For Mike Pence alone, it will amount to $4,700. He says he is giving it to charity. If that is the case, why can’t the Congress live on what they make now and give the Social Security people the raise needed to get the medical care that so many need but are doing without?
