Letter: Golf tourney raised $3,500 for research

The second annual Gene Farquer Memorial Golf for Cancer was a huge success raising over $3,500 for the Indiana Elks Cancer Research in honor of Dr. Theodore Logan, oncologist, Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center. This year’s sponsor, Alexandria Elks Lodge 478, provided an excellent venue and party after the golf. Some 100 golfers participated to help raise money for cancer research and treatments.

Several individuals, businesses and organizations donated gifts, merchandise certificates or money to make this event a special fundraiser. Thanks to all.

On behalf of the many victims and families who have been influenced by cancer, we recognize and appreciate this contribution. A donation like this to cancer research is helping to “Make A Difference” in the quest to find a cure.

The real winners are those living with the hope of a cure.
