You have to give the Republicans credit when it comes to using fear as a political tool. Charlie Black, a John McCain surrogate, said an “attack on U.S. soil would be good for McCain.” Joe Lieberman, also a surrogate, in his whiny voice said that al-Qaida “would test the new president when he takes office.” To think that Obama would not do everything in his power to protect Americans is ridiculous! 

When asked if the improvements in Iraq would allow our troops to come home, McCain said “it doesn't really matter when we come home.” Maybe he should ask those who have had multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan if it matters to them when they can come home. Time magazine reported that tens of thousands of our troops are taking Prozac and other drugs just to cope with multiple tours.   

McCain says he will “never surrender” in Iraq and our troops will come home to the honor they deserve. I have news for him: Our troops have already earned that honor. What they deserve is a commander-in-chief who will not misuse them and has the judgment to know that we will always be considered infidels and occupiers in Iraq. When things were bad in Iraq, McCain said we couldn’t leave. McCain says things have improved, and now he says we can’t leave. I guess 100 years is a good timetable for McCain, but not for our economy or our troops.
