Watch out for skateboarders

— While driving east on West Cross Street recently, a boy, around the age of 13, was standing on the edge of the sidewalk with his skateboard in hand. As I passed him, I looked in the rear view mirror to see him skate-boarding up the middle of Cross Street. When I drove over the railroad tracks, many cars were headed west. My first thought, of course, was, “This is an accident waiting to happen.”
Children are out and about on skateboards and bikes this summer so, please parents, remind them about safety tips and to stay out of harm’s way, so we can all have a safe and fun summer.
