Stand behind police who face dangers daily

June 17 started like every other day until I read the article concerning Officer Brian Bell and the police shooting of Shain Arnold that had taken place. I read the bold print, “Police Shooting Excessive,” which projects to the public that Bell was in the wrong with his actions, even before a review board has arrived at a decision. In the article, Arnold states that he was driving drunk, admitted to a hit and run, was involved in a vehicle pursuit, resisted arrest, told the officer he had a gun and would shoot him, struck the officer in the head and then pointed what appeared to be a gun.

We need to stand behind these officers and be thankful that they put their lives on the line daily, so we don’t have to. Remember, this all started because Arnold lacked respect for society’s rules and put himself above others and their property.

I, personally, commend Bell and other officers for protecting us every day, without acknowledgment from all of us. Arnold should just be thankful that Bell’s training and use of his weapon were of the highest standard, which resulted in a only a leg wound. Would Arnold have aimed for the legs?
