Letter: Many hands responsible for Strawberry Festival

The Anderson Family YMCA would like to thank the community for the tremendous support at its 29th annual YMCA Strawberry Festival. Big, luscious strawberries were donated by Pay Less/Kroger Super Markets, premium vanilla ice-cream was provided by Prairie Farm Dairy and the First Presbyterian Church allowed us the use of their kitchen for baking shortcakes and cleaning berries.

Also, thanks to the many RSVP volunteers, YMCA board members, staff and “Y” members who worked to make the day a success. Also appreciated is the help of Big Joe’s Event Services and supplies and assistance provided by Saint John’s Medical Center. New, this year, in support of the YMCA, was a fantastic team of volunteers from Nestlé Co. The “bunny” helped in preparation, serving and even provided entertainment with the venue of karaoke, on the Town Center Park stage.

Speaking of the Town Center park, my hat’s off to our City of Anderson and Parks and Recreation Department for their enduring efforts to keep our city parks clean and safe. Citizens should be proud of this effort, and show respect for use of these fine facilities.

The Lord blessed us with another beautiful day, and we raised several thousand dollars to put back into the Y programs for families and kids.

Kids, families and community — that’s what the YMCA is all about.

Thank you all berry-much.

Dan Sager. CEO
