Gary V. Shelton



Dec. 18, 1937 – Dec. 24, 2009

ANDERSON — Gary V. Shelton, 72, passed away suddenly Dec. 24, 2009, at his residence.

He retired from Delco Remy in 1994 after 31 years of dedicated service. Gary served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, where he met his wife, Gisela. Gary loved to visit his friends in Tennessee and go fishing with his wife. He also loved camping and enjoyed time with his dog, Ginger.

Gary was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Gisela Shelton; his parents, Earl and Beulah (Stiers) Shelton; his mother-in-law; one sister; and three brothers.

Survivors include his daughter, Paty Mabbitt; son, Steve Shelton; four grandchildren, Jason (wife, Jessica) Starkey, Joe Starkey (fiancée, Misty Lyons), Steven Shelton and Madison Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Zane, Jason Jr., and Layla Starkey; a very special Aunt Anna Bigham; daughter-in-law, Julie Shelton, Derrick Mitchem and family; special friends, Pete and Marilyn Weiss, Loran Penrod, Jerry and Lena Davis, Rosie, Brigitte and many, many, more.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Dan Bair of East Lynn Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery
