Girl Talk en Espanol

A novel after-school program gives Hispance elementary school students a chance to learn more about themselves and, through Spanish, gain a better understanding of English and how to succeed at school. Founded by an Anderson educator, the Latina Mentors program helps students navigate and take pride in their two cultures. Each week, Latina students from Anderson High School arrive to work with fourth- and fifth-graders at Anderson Elementary. They share common experiences, cultures, hopes and hardships in a common language. One “Latina Mentor” sums up the program with a word in English -- “Beautiful.”
