Madison County cancels school H1N1 flu shot clinics

The Herald Bulletin

ANDERSON, Ind. — Lack of vaccine led Madison County health officials today to cancel clinics that had been planned to begin this week to give H1N1 flu shots to schoolchildren. The announcement marks a reversal of plans to vaccinate priority populations because of a shortage of vaccine.

Instead, the Madison County Health Department announced that a mass drive-through inoculation clinic will take place Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m. at Hoosier Park. The shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Local health officials urged those in the highest risk group for the strain commonly referred to as swine flu to seek the shots. Those groups include: pregnant women; household contacts or caregivers of infants 6 months old or younger; children 6 months to adults 24 years of age; health-care and emergency care workers and people 25 and older with pre-existing, chronic medical conditions.
