ANDERSON — A Shirley man could face charges after driving through a backyard and hitting a tree early Tuesday morning, said Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson.

“Once the official (blood) results are back — if the results are high enough, he’ll be charged,” Richardson said.

Richardson said Tyler Lackey, 22, was driving his 2000 Dodge 1500 truck east on County Road 1100 South when he “failed to negotiate” an S-curve at 9 West. He was transported to Saint John’s Medical Center with minor injuries to his hands and complaints of head pain.

Preliminary tests at the scene indicated that Lackey was intoxicated, the sheriff said. Depending on blood test results at the hospital, Lackey may be charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Richardson said Tuesday evening.
