ANDERSON — A former Madison County deputy prosecutor has pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and will have the charge dismissed if she successfully completes a deferment.
According to court documents:
Janine L. Sutton, 49, Anderson, was driving a 2005 Dodge Stratus northbound on Scatterfield Road at about 4:15 p.m. May 6 near Meineke Car Care Center, 2726 S. Scatterfield.
She drove off the road’s east side into a ditch, and then went airborne at the ditch’s end. She then struck a curb at Meineke and went airborne again. The car then continued through an open area before coming to a rest on an embankment near train tracks.
Sutton told an officer she had consumed wine earlier in the day, and a certified breathalyzer test determined her blood-alcohol content was 0.13 percent.
She was fired shortly after her arrest and pleaded guilty about two weeks later. Her license was suspended for 30 days and under restriction for 180 days. She must also undergo substance-abuse treatment. The case will be dismissed if she successfully stays out of trouble for a year.
