The Herald Bulletin

A car, apparently taken without permission, was driven into the White River along Madison Avenue early Friday morning, according to the Anderson Police Department.

Public Information Officer Mitch Carroll said police were called to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. after the car’s owner was informed that the black Chevrolet Monte Carlo was in the river, near the Derby Downs race track.

Carroll said there were no known injuries in connection with the incident, and the vehicle was retrieved by a tow truck.

The car’s owner, who learned of the incident through an acquaintance, subsequently filed a stolen vehicle report.
